Neyers Vineyards is located in the heart of the Napa Valley, but Bruce’s background with European wine importer Kermit Lynch has clearly influenced their wines. Many of the French producers that Bruce met and learned from practice non-invasive farming, make their wines naturally without the use of laboratory yeast or malo-lactic starter, and bottle their wines without fining or filtration. These “Old-World” practices result in wines that have the natural characteristics we seek to bring to our wines at Neyers Vineyards.

A Commitment To Excellence Influenced by French wine producers

Founders, Bruce & Barbara Neyers
Bruce and Barbara grew up together in Wilmington, DE and married while they were both undergraduate students at the University of Delaware. Bruce’s brief stint in the Army moved them to San Francisco in 1970 where Bruce became interested in wine. Barbara followed her academic training and became a teacher, but soon thereafter was able to pursue her love of food and cooking as a chef and eventually manager at acclaimed Chez Panisse Restaurant in Berkeley.

Winemaker, Tadeo Borchardt
Tadeo joined Neyers Vineyard in 2004 after several years of experience in the industry making wine in both California and New Zealand. A zealous advocate of natural winemaking practices, Tadeo is an enthusiastic supporter of traditionally produced European-style wines.

Neyers Ranch, Conn Valley
The Neyers Ranch home vineyards are located in the hills east of St. Helena, and are planted to both Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The parcel is roughly a rectangle that runs south to north, starting at 400 feet elevation. It rises to almost 1000 feet at its highest elevation. Three different soil types provide the unique terroir: gravel, basalt and sandy-loam.

Neyers Winery, Sage Canyon
In the fall of 1999, the Neyers purchased a 30-acre parcel in the Sage Canyon area of Napa Valley, a few miles east of Rutherford, on Highway 128 near Lake Hennessey. The winery includes a processing and fermentation cellar, which separates the barrel cellars used for red and white wine aging respectively.
