In 1993, Randy and his wife Megan launched Mason Cellars in Oakville, combining his passion for Sauvignon Blanc and her marketing expertise. For nearly 25 years, they have produced classically styled Napa Valley wines. They introduced Pomelo in 2004 and Three Pears in 2008. Before Mason Cellars, Randy managed vineyards for Chappellet and was head winemaker at Lakespring Winery for 14 years. He also helped develop Napa Wine Company in 1993, releasing his first acclaimed Sauvignon Blanc under Mason Cellars in 1996.

Randy’s minimalist approach to winemaking lets these distinct sites truly shine, representing a rich history of strong grower relationships with the finest farming practices.

Yount Mill Vineyard
Our single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc source is owned and farmed by the 4th and 5th generation Hoxsey family. This vineyard is located in the Yountville AVA and was planted in the early ’70s using budwood from Robert Mondavi, originally from France.
Organically farmed since 1987, it benefits from Yount Mill Hill to the west, which protects it from afternoon heat. The split trellis system, with leaves pulled on the morning side and left on the afternoon side, produces a mix of green and gold fruit, enhancing diverse flavor profiles.
